This Week In School: Fight To The Death!
This Week In School was a bit better than Last Weeks snooze-fest (I swear to god the only lessons we had last Week were either French or Maths!) but it still feels like I'm trapped in the same Week over and over again, every day getting up at the same time, doing exactly the same thing. Endless exercises on Maths and French, all the same that just meld into one. So basically I've hit that point in the School year where it feels like the movie 'Groundhog Day'! I'm actually having difficulty recapping this Week because they're all starting to meld into one!
Monday was fine mostly. The German Teacher gave us a few crosswords to complete instead of Permenance, which were tedious but better than the alternative. Science was an inspection of the Human eye and how it captures light and transmits it to the Retina. It was mostly interesting, although I'm dredding the Test because there's ALOT to learn and understand. Art was a bit embarassing, we finally saw our short video that we filmed. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was, but I'm supposed to be playing the new kid and I'm twice the size of the Teacher! Also there was no sound, so we now have to somehow figure out how to a) remember what we were saying and b) register our voices onto the clip! Maths started a new chapter on Geometry (aka my worst topic in Maths) and THANK THE LORD that it wasn't that difficult! In short: we had to draw a triangle inside a circle. The Test is easy-peasy at this point. History saw my Class studying 'The Enlightened Ones' which are a group of famous intelligent French Philosophers that banded together to question society in the 18th Century. But apparently 'Intelligent Philosophers' meant people who actually had a moral compass of some sort in those times. Saying 'Everyone has to right to choose their own Religion' isn't intelligent! It just means that you're not one of those crazy French bastards who like to chop your head off! Apparently 'Not bat SH*T insane!' meant you were intelligent back then! You know History books should develop a sense of humor every now and then, there's so much good material being ignored here! French was a Test on 'Les Expansions Du Nom' or whatever. I think it went ok, but its French so I'm probably down -8 points already... F.L.E, which I don't really mention on this Blog alot because its mainly me doing French exercises for an hour, was me studying a extract from the acclaimed French classic 'Le Petit Prince': a book about a lonely boy from another planet searching the stars so he can find a true friend to talk to. Turns out he finally befriended a talking fox. Kinda weird, but I suppose its a Fairy tale.
Tuesday was a boring mess: the morning dragged and the afternoon was bland. Maths was fine, more triangles in circles. Seriously, how does drawing these uninspired figures help me out later in life? Unless I have a job which involves drawing alot of triangles and tons of circles I don't see how! In fact does any of this crap that I'm learning now help me out later? I'll probably forget it all after my Brevet anyway. History was us studying the downfall of France that led to the infamous revolution, which was because Louis the XVI was crap at politics (and how to run the country for that matter) and spent most of his time inside his castles making war machines. Of course his most famous invention 'The Guillotine' ironically turned out to be the thing that lopped off his head a few years later...bet he regretted inventing that then! The first hour of French was a bore fest and it was mainly us correcting exercises. We watched the second part of Nosferatu in the second hour though, but this time it was the 1971 re-made version in colour. In my opinion it loses all its scare factor when you take it out of Black and White, gothic setting. The Vampire just simply doesn't look as good! The afternoon started with English, and it was fun. For a Test we had to create a 'Super-Hero' and write a short summary on him. My Class got surprisingly creative, some of the invented heroes were called 'Leekman', 'Carrotman' and 'Hiroshiman'! One of the girls in my Class got surprisingly racist, naming her character Mohammid Algeba (a super nigerian) with a power that could decimate entire cities if he wanted to. He also wears a turban.... German was more permanence, although I did have some stuff to do but even doing Homework in School was boring! Then after that was Extra Extra Maths which was same old, same old.
Wednesday was again the best day of the Week, and it helps that we're only in for the morning! Sport was the most vicious thing I've ever been in, a real fight to the death. I don't think I've ever fought as much in my entire life! Unfortunately, I had to get in a scrap with some of the Class' bigger members, although I was still a head taller than most of them! The fat guy just plummuled me to the ground, strangling the heck outta me and just plain throwing me about. I grazed/burned my hands on the mat aswell (thank you friction), and I had FIVE fights in a row. By the end of it I was a sweaty, wounded mess, and racked up five ties one loss (the fat guy being the only one to succesfully take me out). I had the crap beaten out of me though. This was hardly Sport, it was full on war! No play fights here, we're talking proper wrestling. GOD. SAVE. ME. Technology was us having a roundtable and deciding on what elements we're going to put on our maquette, and more importantly, how. I'm not into the whole 'Do it yourself, model building' thing so it was kinda boring for me. This things gonna be a real B*TCH to make, thats for sure. French was more work on our movie poster, except we couldn't really agree on the Story and what to add to the poster. We'll have settled it out by Friday but it was mainly alot of arguing here.
Thursday wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Apart from S.V.T of course, which was worse. Maths was fine for once, we weren't subjugated to boring exercises that much. Aside from the fact that I suck in the mornings I couldn't find a better example of an better than average Maths lesson. Sport wasn't a disaster either, in fact it went pretty well compared to the disaster that was last Week. We made sure that we knew our routine by the end and aside from a few slip-ups it couldn't have gone better. Apparently we need to make the transitions between our figures more 'fluid' or whatever. To be honest I don't think I could have 'fluid-er' because sweat was just dripping off my face the entire time! S.V.T managed to be even more embarassing and uncomfortable than last Week, to the point were I flat out died. Yep, flatlined. Finito. Just know that when it comes to the Test, I will just REFUSE to revise for anything, as that will likely involve me walking up and down my Room for three hours looking at a womans naughty bits while trying to memorise every single element present. IT JUST AIN'T HAPPENING, YA HEAR?! To replace German we all went on the computers and did a few German exercises to pass the time. Bit tedious really, and the exercises were way beyond my skill level. The Extra Maths Teacher was away so the second hour of the afternoon was Permenance. Guh two boring hours in a row, I was practically asleep til' Music where I applied the finishing touches to my montage on 'La Trinite Porhoet'.
Friday was good mostly, Extra Extra Maths sucked though. At least it did one good thing right: I'll never be able to get those blasted numbers out of my head, having been engrained in there now for all eternity by the countless hours of those boring exercises. History was alright, a little more interesting than usual because we're focusing on the French revolution. I've got SOOO much to learn for the Test though, at least three hours worth of Revision. Phew, I'm tired already before I've even started revising! French was still better than average, we finally cracked down on a Story for our short novel:
'When an ancient cavern underneath the old town of St. Exuspery opens to world by accident, several archeologists are brought onto the scene to study this astronomical find. Lined with marble, a dozen angelic statues are found, carved by impossibly talented hands for the time period and made of stone unlike any of that seen on Earth. Both puzzled and awed by this find, the archeologists prepare the statues for removal, but things don't exactly go according to plan... The village is suddenly plagued by a Series of disappearances and unexplained events, namely taking place during the night surrounding the cavern. But then bodies are found, and the statues start to move of their accord, as if by magic... Of course no one believes little Salis when he tells the police that he saw the Statues converge on him when he wasn't looking, but things start to get alot worse after that. Soon the entire town is under seige by these terrible creatures that move when not seen and hunt in the darkness. With no other options left, Salis is the only one who can end to the Night Of The Statues once and for all...'
Only thing is, how the hell to I write all of this in French? After that we had Science (which replaced Maths for some reason this Week), where we finished our chapter on the human eye by studying all the different diseases one can have. By the way, how come these maladies of the eye never have pronouncable names? They're all these complex words that will be awfully hard to memorise for the Test. *SIGH* Thanks whoever named them, you jerk. After the lunch break we were treated to an hour and a half presentation of the Internet. Basically a guy was explaining all the different tricks the Internet uses to grab your attention and the sometimes unreliable Wikipedia. The man showing us the presentation was very good, mixing humour, information and interesting all in one. I was hooked all the way through to be honest, I mean he sooo gets us. It was actually quite surprising to see how much he knew about the time we spend on the Internet and how Facebook screws you over half the time. I was impressed. Best moment was when he said 'Remember its just you and me. The door behind you is locked, and the Teachers are nowhere to be seen. *CLAPS HIS HANDS* So kids, any of you watch Porn?' and then several peoples faces lighted up Red! He then laughed and said 'Gets em' every time!' The final twenty minutes left before the bell rang was a short lesson of Science where we did a full recap on everything in preparation for the Test. English was a bit surprising actually. I mean the Teacher just lost the plot a bit in this lesson, must have been a bad day or something? He started with a surprise Test that was quite hard for the French and then completely shouted at several members of my Class exlaming that 'I've had enough of this Class!' half the time. One kid got sent out of the Class because he was constantly chatting and another got a 0/20 (without even doing the Test!) for saying a swear word. He can be pretty terrifying when he wanted to be, I can tell you! Thank GOD he was back to his original self this Tuesday or he could have gone from Hero to Zero VERY quickly. The last twenty minutes was me working on my Super Hero team that had to be handed in. Basically they're a mix of the origins of the Fantastic Four with The Power Of Five Book series and the powers/general plot of the X-Men. So a bit of everything really.
Overall I think this Week was alright, but it still feels EXACTLY the same as last Week, like in a never ending timeloop or something. And by the way, if you thought I had the crap beaten out of me in Sport last Week, wait til' you hear about THIS Week. MOOORTAL KOMBAT! FATALITY! K.O!
