This Week In School: A Nice Relaxing Break
This Week was alright. There were few Tests, hardly any Sport and even an extra day off due to the national Teacher strikes (sadly no-one desecrated the School). It was a bit too relaxing though, Thursday and Friday largely felt like a chore as a result, although to be fair I was asleep halfway through Thursday due to this awful heatwave keeping us up at night. It's unbearable, it really is. Thought we're supposed to be getting into Autumn territory now? Anyway here's the usual, but don't expect an essay like last Week because I'm currently revising for five (yep I counted them) Tests this Week!
Technology: Not a lot to moan about this Week, but it was a bit boring. We're now researching on how to organize these kind of projects (in terms of funding, planning and ironing out mistakes from the previous Year ect...) and to be honest it doesn't really have anything to do with Technology in the first place. We're basically spending the entire year on erecting up billboards about the local wildlife, which is more of S.V.T's domain if you ask me.
D.V.3: I've got to pick a job, research all the diploma's and qualification's for said job and then do a document detailing everything. Interestingly enough I picked Teacher of the list and apparently to be a Teacher of anything you have to pass this CAPES thing-y or whatever (yes it's a lot more than that). Yeah, you look at the list of the stuff you have to do and it's mindbogglingly complicated for me, with all these big fancy French words or acronyms like DEP and CAPEB. So in short I don't really know what I'm doing or what exactly I'm researching but that's what the task is for, right? These lessons are really making me realise just how unplanned I am for the upcoming years. For the time being I'm just taking it as it comes along I guess.
History: My revised Test from last Week got a really good score but it's a shame it won't count in the overall average at the end of the Trimestre. I basically just trimmed the introduction right down and put more emphasis on the trenches and that seemed to do the trick. This Week we finished our chapter on World War I by looking at what the after-effects of the war had on the World after it was all said and done. In short: Europe was a complete wreck, the male population was down, women were on the rise, everyone was broke not to mention injured/battle scarred and they all seemingly pinned it on the Germans, even though the country wasn't responsible for the war in the first place! I'm sure the will Germans seek revenge later...
S.V.T: This Week was the Test on Biology, and it's another one of those 'I CAN'T BELIEVE I DID THAT!' kind of Tests were you thought you did everything right but afterwards you realize that you made some really stupid mistakes. And by stupid I mean really stupid, because one of the questions actually contained the answer by accident, and I didn't see it! Well I suppose that's what you get for giving me a Test first thing on a Monday morning. At least I got all the knowledge questions right, that should be enough to push the Result past 10/20. UPDATE: I got 13/20, so I did OK.
Sport: Just one hour this Week because M. Radenac was off on Monday so we couldn't do endurance (YES! NO MORE LEG-PAIN AND AGONY FOR ANOTHER WEEK!!!). We did Ping-bloody-Pong on Friday, as usual.
Maths: The Homework Test I did two Weeks back got a 8/20, which was by far the most surprising thing this Week because I was SO sure I had that one in the bag. Again, I spent three hours on it and it turned out rubbish. GREAT. Another one we did in the computer room and we had to learn this new Maths program thing that makes things a lot easier when you actually figure out how to work the damn thing. So I tried to do it and but unfortunately by the time I'd figured it out the bell had gone and because the Teacher was unfairly evaluating our work (she gave us a sheet of paper to write the answers on that we had to hand in at the end of the hour) there's a 2,5/7 to add to the ever increasing smoldering heap of failed Maths Tests so far this Year. Meanwhile in Class I'm doing perfectly fine apart from the odd mistake here and there, so I SHOULD (repeat: SHOULD) be brilliant on the upcoming Test this Tuesday. But considering how every Test I thought I did well in so far has failed miserably my chances are pretty slim at the moment.
French: BOOORING. We started a new chapter on Autobiography's this Week, and god help me if the upcoming Test is about writing your own Biography! That would be a nightmare, imagine writing this Blog in French? IT CAN'T BE DONE I TELLS YE, IT CAN'T BE DONE!! And I add another 5/5 to my shining pile of French Test's this Year.
German: The German Teacher was kind enough to give us a lesson outside on Friday afternoon...in the blistering heat! No but really, we all just sat around and played German games for an hour...in the sun. How laid back and awesome is that? There's a Test coming this Monday, and I will surely get high marks in it. UPDATE: Yep, it went rather well.
English: My group/table got a 20/20 Result for outstanding participation and understanding. Of course it has nothing to do with me, did it? And that's pretty much it for English this Week apart from a few language exercises.
So yeah, not a bad Week really, and I got a day off! Not looking forward to this Week though, faaar to many Tests for me to handle. I'll survive though, somehow.
