This Week In School: The Beginning Of The End!

This Week In School marked the final run on my long, loong journey through 4eme. Why? Because in little under Six Weeks time it’ll be the Summer Holidays! YAY, THREE MONTH LONG BREAK! But it isn’t over yet unfortunately, because I’ve still got half of the 3rd Trimestre to get through. *SIGH* At least the finish line is in sight…Anyway this Week was mostly fine but there was still a few ‘undesirable’ moments, mainly focused on Sport.

The age old question easily answered.
Monday was a bit lukewarm, I kinda drifted through it. German was fine, I really did get 20/20 on that last Test before the Hols. We basically studied a text on a German kid talking about his English correspondent, and had to answer questions on it. Technology was next, and it was a correction on the work we did  the Week before the Week before the Holidays about an alarm system. It wasn’t that interesting but Art was, were our task was to depict important moments from our life in 12 images. 12 images? Hmmm, well their was the time I was born, my first trip to Disney Land Paris…..erm…basically I can’t think of anything major that happened to me between the age of 4-9 years old! What really happened in those Year’s apart from life as normal? But I got 9-15 all sorted! Maths was a bit of recapping on what did before the Holidays, because none of us could really remember how to calculate the consinus of an angle…which was kinda worrying because the Test would be on Friday and I still didn’t have a calculator with the button cos on it in order to not get 0/20!
The afternoon kick-started with French, where we started a new chapter on ‘How to write a Letter’ which is about as interesting as watching someone play football for two and a half hours. French should get with the times and call it ‘How to write an E-mail’! History was a study on the infamous Napoleon Bonaparte, the most famous midget of all time! Now he was ambitious, him and Hitler would get along well. Using the miracle of the Internet (further solidifying the term: JUST GOOGLE IT!) we had to write an essay on the guy, which was actually quite interesting. In fact I was in a specially good mood because I got 25/25 on my last Test (based on the Revolution)! Hmm, I seem to have gotten really good results in both Maths, History and German…I must be on a roll!

French REALLY does this to people

Tuesday was a semi-boring day, and I mostly slept through this one. Maths was more revision on how to….*SNORE* but at least I was getting it right. I couldn’t get the final answer without a calculator though, which was a bit problematic. French was a grammatical headache again, and I was completely dumbfounded. But at least I got the Results from the story I did a Month ago….17/20 for idea’s/story and 4/10 for spelling and grammar (which is quite frankly the best I could hope for). History was on Napoleon’s many triumphs, but we haven’t got to the bit where he really F*cked up at Waterloo yet…
The afternoon was a bit better, in English we had to write up a short essay about what we did during the Holidays that would last about a minute to read/recite so we could be tested on it the following Tuesday (in front of the Class!). Of course I wrote how I went to London BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH stayed with family for a Week BLAH BLAH BLAH....BLAH! To be honest I did it 40 seconds. German was us having to make a text and present ourselves (again) to the Class, you know the general questions like where I come from, what do I like ect... To be honest I found it odd because we already did this thing at the start of the Year...Hmm. I did notice that the Teacher was being a bit too cool here aswell for some reason, she didn't tell anyone off for the entire lesson (which must be a record)! I made sure I said goodbye to her when I left for playtime.

God do I hate Frisbee.

Wednesday was the worst day of the Week, slightly edging off Thursday. Sport was the absolute pinnacle of awful, although I think it was for everyone because we weren't very good at Frisbee. As a Sport, the very nature of the 'Frisbee' can make it unpredictable at times: You're running around the place with your head held up high trying to calculate where the damn thing will go before you accidentally knock over a frenchman half your size doing exactly the same thing! And don't get me started on trying to make the blasted thing go where you want it to go when you're throwing it! Basically if the Frisbee touches the ground, it gets passed to the other team and If you succesfully pass it to another team member five times or get it into the 'winning zone' your Team gets a point. Of course if the members of my Class are bad at it, then I'm even worse. I couldn't catch or throw the disc correctly for the life of me, and so my team just naturally didn't pass it me at all. And get this, the one time I actually caught the bugger I was sent off the pitch for an injury! Yes, somehow catching the Frisbee shed a bit of 'weak' skin around the outskirts of my thumb nail completely off and the Result was my hand being a bleeding mess. For such a small cut it bled alot, its no exaggeration to say that my hand was drenched in the red liquid...oh how embarassing! I CAN'T EVEN CATCH A FRISBEE NOW WITHOUT IT SOMEHOW BACKFIRING! WHY AM I PLAGUED WITH SUCH MISFORTUNE? Yes so I went from being outright humiliated in Sport to being lobbed into a Technology Test, which went mercifully well. I also got the Results from my last Test, a good 8/10 score, which is nothing to scoff at I suppose. The French lesson that followed made me almost weep over how lost I was. And when it comes to French grammar, I really do know zilch about crap! Just thank the lord that Wednesday's are only half a school day!

How I felt during Sport...

Thursday morning didn't shine too bright at all in my mind. Maths was the final lesson before the great Test, and thankfully this time I had the proper calculator required (thanks to a bit of last minute shopping on my part). There were still things that I didn't understand, but I felt more or less ready for the Test. Let's just say I was praying that it wouldn't break my perfect Test run that I'm having at the mo. Sport was like Frisbee, but worse. It would have actually been better if I just stood in the sidelines and did nothing for the whole time, cos' quite frankly I was a burning gaping hole into whatever Team I went in. I was getting in their way, to be frank so I assigned myself to either the goal or a defensive position, and yeah I only effed things up more there! I didn't save ONE goal for some reason (apparently I was so slow I was pathetic) and I might have just as well have been replaced with a cardboard cut-out of myself in defense! When a girl can score several goals, you know you're clearly NOT David Beckham! I'm clearly not a Sports person but now I've had Baseball, Endurance, Ping-Pong, High Jump, Gymnastics and Wrestling so far, I can safely say that the two we're doing right now REALLY takes the punch for being  the worst I've been in any of them. OUCH. S.V.T...well that was just a 50 minute lesson on Womans periods now wasn't it? Y.I.P.P.I.E. It was probably one of the most disgusting lessons yet, if I'm honest! Here we find out that woman seep blood every 14 days or so and that in some parts of the world men cut off a bit of foreskin off their willy in order to satisify their god or have more pleasure in S-E-X. Really puts you in the mood for Lunch doesn't it?
So after Luncheon was two hours of Permanence because the German Teacher was absent again! WHO WOULD HAVE THUNK IT? Also their was the big news that she's being replaced by another German expert this Monday which put into context why we had to do that whole 'present yourself' to the Class thing now doesn't it? It was all because we're getting a new Teacher! Why didn't she tell any of us though? Perhaps she's not a 'Goodbye' person? Well either way, I don't think any of us will particulary miss her (okay she was alright). Anyway I spent the next two hours revising for the Music Test that was afterwards. I was lucky to get two hours of Perm because it turns out that even after the 3 hours revision I did on Wednesday night not all the facts had really stuck in my memory, and it would be a complete disaster if I didn't get the near Perfect marks on the Test (I have a standard to uphold you know)! So being gifted by an extra two hours of revision time I walked into the Test feeling pretty smug. And it went well, so here's hoping I got another 19,5/20 up my sleeves then!

JUST NOT ENOUGH TIME!

Friday was both bitter and sweet all at the same time. The day got off to a really bad start with Vie De Classe. Basically Vie De Classe is an hour where we have debates on certain subjects, like politics for example or perhaps doing stuff like studying Religion or researching jobs. It got pretty heated actually and its kinda a long story: Basically theirs a girl in our Class that has not had a good time with both her school life and her personal life. I don't know the specifics but apparently she's not living with her parents anymore and the kids in our Class pick on her quite badly (not that she's an angel herself, but nine people picking on one person is hardly fair is it?). So yesterday in Sport she accidentally kicked a football into another girl twice and then the other girl kicked the Football back at her in retalilation ect.... Basically it didn't end well at all and she ended up being taken to the Headmistress because she was so upset. Now the following day things weren't going very well either so she brought the discussion up in Class.....and seconds later she was crying back to the Headmistress after a series of accusations were made against her by a very tempered Class (what turned out to be a simple misunderstanding got a biiit out of control wouldn't you say?). So then the Head had to come in and explain how difficult things are for her and we should stop all picking on her ect...ect...and it took up the WHOLE hour. DAMN! Watching this really rage fueled arguement going on in Class was the equivalent of sitting back and watching fireworks explode! Of course the main crux of the whole thing was whether or not she intentionally kicked the football at the girl (I am personally going with the 'innocent' side because she hadn't exactly had any experience in Football and well accidents happen I suppose. It didn't really seem like her aswell). So yeah things were taken down a notch in History were we discovered all about Napoleon's personal life and what he really thought about himself...which was nothing short of I AM THE ALL HIGH RULING EMPEREUR, I WAS BORN TO BE A GOD! and stuff like that. Then after that was the Maths Test, and I suppose you could say it was somewhat short of a complete and total DISASTER! It wasn't necessarily because I sucked at it (I think everything I put was correct) but just like that French Test (it was a while back) I didn't have enough time to finish it. Literally there was about six exercises in the whole thing but they all required ALOT of thinking and ALOT of calculations. It took me about five minutes alone to work out that in order to find the answer to question 1a) I had to find the answer to question 1c) first! MAD! If you had taken it one question at a time and not bothered to skip and look at the questions ahead you would have been totally lost! In fifty minutes I think I only did a bit more than 60% of it, so lets just hope that the 60% I did was completely right or *GOODBYE! NEEEEAAAAOW! KA-SPLOSH!!!!*
So after the calamity that was the Maths Test things settled down with Permanence and Science. Science was boring but that was only because he had to recap all of the things we did when the Spaniards weren't there before the Holidays. English was fun, we had to use MP3's to record our speeches on what we did during the Holidays and use them to help us memorise it (because you won't be reading it off your Book on Tuesday, you have to learn it). It was a neat idea but I didn't really need the thing (I could improvise one minute of dialogue easily!) and the headphones were kinda crap anyway (I could barely hear anything!).

So that was this Week In School, and although it wasn't particulary a pleasant ride I've had worst Weeks in my opinion (see the first few Weeks in January just before Les Epreuves Communes). Here's hoping that next Week might pick up in the Sport departement...

  1. LOL! There's nothing wrong with being a nerd :-) You are just not designed to be any good at sport! But you make up for it in other areas.
